Samurai

Samurai were the military nobility and officer caste of medieval and early-modern Japan. They emerged in the 12th century and became renowned for their strict code of conduct, martial skills, and honor, known as bushido. Samurai served the daimyos, or lords, and played a central role in Japanese warfare and governance until their decline in the 19th century with the Meiji Restoration.
